Re-branded Unilever advert Evaluation

Create your own user feedback survey

Brief

For our second assignment we were given a brief that explained all the things that we had to include within our advert. These things included: Different types of shots, Dialogue and special fx. There were many more things to include, but these were the main three.
Before deciding anything we had to do research into the different brands that Unilever owned. During this research we came to understand how they done their advertisements and targeted different groups of audiences. We had to look at how Unilever worked with the rules that were set in place by OFCOM.
During the research stage we had to analyse different adverts that were used for Unilever products and come up with a presentation to pitch an idea to the rest of our class a re-branding idea for one of their products.
We had to decide on a Unilever brand to re-brand in our own style for a different audience. When we were told this my team had already all decided to re-brand LYNX, so we were able to decide instantly that we were going to do this assignment with that brand.
The current target audience for LYNX is young teenagers, mostly high school students. We wanted to change this and target it towards college and university students so that they would be able to use this product when they are out on a night out.
The reason for us deciding to do it for this group of students was due to a night out i had with a few mates sometime last year. My friend was one of those unlucky people that sweat a lot even when they are not doing anything. Over the night he tried to get with this girl and couldn't do it due to the fact that he smelled. She decided to come up to me and say make your friend spray because he is an embarrassment. This night stuck in my mind for a while and when we got this assignment i thought it could be a good chance to use as a stepping stone towards helping people like that.

How we collected feedback

To collect our feedback for our advert we first set up a simple survey on surveymonkey.com and then uploaded our advert to YouTube. Once we had done that we then decided to send out an email to a group of friends and other students within our class to collect our feedback. But they did not seem to want to do the survey at the time, so we decided to post it on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter where we then gained some responses. It was not many, but it was more than what we had before. We then compiled the results for each question into a chart as you can see towards the top of this post.

When we received our feedback we had asked in one question what people thought the target audience was. People had noticed who it was aimed at and saw that our target audience was students around the ages of 18-21, Mostly University and College students. This was lucky for us as a lot of the time people don't notice what the target audience really is as a lot of adverts don't show it off quite well.In our advert we did not use Mise-en-scene too much as there was not too many props to be arranged within the scenes of our advert. I still feel that we had the right amount of props arranged in the right way for our advert. In our advert we tried to not push too much on the audience to sell the product, we wanted to keep it quite simple. Our slogan was a simple one but it also caught peoples eyes quite well and was said that if they saw this advert on television they would buy the product. We did have a few issues, one in which being that one of the words in our slogan was actually spelt wrong. This was not noticed until the advert had been uploaded. Other than that the advert was able to attract people and persuade them in buying Lynx.
One of the ways that we used persuasion in our advert was with our slogan. This made people feel like they wanted to buy this product.

Self Evaluation

We had to change some things when shooting the advert from our original plans as things didn't go as we were expecting them to go. For example, the major thing we needed to change was the location, which when we were planning was going to be shot in a house and that was then changed to be shot in a room in the college due to the fact that travelling to the location would have taken up near enough all of the time we had to shoot. Other than that we kept to what we planned for the production and i think it went really well, if we were going to do it again i think we would take more time shooting rather than planing as i thought it was a little unorganized and unprofessional.
